The Lagos Hash is one of the best Hashes in the world. Most of the time we run in the city but sometimes there are bush runs that go through the swamp and jungle. The Hare sets the trail, marking it with chalk and shreds of paper. The Harriers search for the trail, front-runners yelling "on-on" at each of the marks.

Following the run, the "circle" is where Hash traditions and other silly ceremonies take place. As this is a drinking club with a running problem, copious amounts of alcohol are consumed. Here, one of the members is christened with a new Hash name. |

In the circle, Hashers are "rewarded" with drinks for various good deeds. Those who violate Hash rules take a seat on the ice (bare-assed for men).

The most regretted offense is getting caught with new shoes. Off comes the left shoe and in goes the beer. Twice, I've drunk from my shoe. Now, I prefer to snitch on others. |
